Thanks. That's MAJOR help for me. :) Now I can finally do something with those granny squares instead of piling them up in a craft box.

The animals are cute. I find it real hard to give them away but find it brings a smile on people's faces. The style is called AMIGURUMI and you can find a couple of books on amazon.com, but the book of my preference is called Amigurumi World: Seriously Cute Crochet by Ana Paula Rimoli. She has simple patterns to understand and it's too the point.

Here's a listing of the Amigurumi books. Ana Paula's book is in the list.

http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_gw?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=amigurumi

But if you don't want to go through the trouble of getting a whole book and just want to try it out for kicks, then I suggest purchasing one of her patterns on her (Ana Paula) Etsy page.

http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=9639

And if you just want to see more little cuteness, here's her blog as well. I think she has a few freebie on her side listings. Should be cute to look at as well.

I think that's it. Thanks so much again. :)

Best,
Andrea

I just used a simple whip-stitch to put these squares together. Hindsight being 20/20, I should have joined them as they were made, at least in to manageable pieces. It seemed the sewing together took forever when I was putting the purples and white together.

When makign the pinks and white border, I left a "tail" 3x as long as one of the square's edge. I used this tail to sew it to the next one that I made, and so-on, until I had a strip of squares to sew on to the border of the purple and white foot blanket. This seemed to go much more quickly than sewing together a box of squares. I'm not sure how others sew together their squares efficiently without taking forever, but I think I've learned my lesson in waiting 'till the squares outnumbered any bits of patience I had left...lol.

These are not the tutorials I used for putting this together(one of the other dance moms taught me how while our kids were in class; she was wonderfully patient), but they are really good and have lots of pictures:

And a wonderful no-sew alternative, making a border between the squares that I may be brave enough to try one day:

I hope this helps!

I've been trying to make a granny square foot blanket, but hesitate to start because then I have to find a way to stitch them all up. Is there a specific stitch you do to put them all together?
